Takeaways

  • 1 and 0 is the surest way to explain Gurmat thoughts. Addition of elements may lead to duality
  • 1 and 0 can explain all elements of Sikh thought, including panentheism, uviersal grace, meeri-peeri, the cultivation of virtue, spiritual and mental wholeness in the Now and an inclusive vision for a borderless world Here
  • Being is complete, yet extends beyond Itself through our becoming. There is nothing — 0 — without the divine but in place of binary 1 or 0, heaven Vs Earth, men Vs women, believers Vs non-believers, sacred Vs non-sacred places, holy time Vs ordinary time, Gurmat talks of 1 and 0, a divine spark in all beings, gender equality, spiritual inclusion and the site of self as a place where the divine resides in the Here and Now — none are outside the web of divine energy-love. The godly let this 1ness enter, take birth in and live with them so that 1 becomes 11, a joy that expands through sharing. The godless shut out the 1 making a 0 of the opportunity. Hidden behind the dam of the self we can erect walls and make our own cityspace expressing our narrative. This gives us a sense of control and security while Life, the Universe, is outside the grasping both of our minds and our cobtrol. Those who reject self as well as 1ness live in a double zero, a 00, a nihism where all value appears as false. Joy intrudes as a moon…
